I Got Spiked
Spiked
Drink spiking substances are invisible, which is exactly what makes them so dangerous. Odourless, tasteless, and rarely reflected in official statistics, they remain an abstract risk for many people. For those affected, however, they can result in loss of control, memory lapses, and often silence. How can an issue like this be made visible?
To mark the first nationwide Drink Spiking Awareness Day on 23 March 2026, KO – Kein Opfer e.V., in collaboration with KNSK and Stunning Studio, launched the #IGotSpiked campaign. At the heart of the campaign is an interactive experience designed not simply to explain the issue, but to make it viscerally understandable.
At igotspiked.com, audiences follow Lisa and her friend on a night out. Through a decision-based narrative structure, users determine for themselves how the evening unfolds and experience how quickly an apparently harmless situation can take a dangerous turn. Built on Choiz.io, the interactive format translates linear storytelling into an active, participatory experience. At the end of the film, real testimonies from those affected add further depth to the experience.
To launch the experience, it was staged as a live event on Twitch. Together with streamers such as freiraumreh, Pandorya and Mienah, the community influenced the course of the story in real time via the chat. In this way, an individual user experience became a collective one, and a taboo subject was turned into a public conversation.
The launch was supported by a social-first campaign on Instagram and TikTok. Under the hashtag #IGotSpiked, creators shared the experience, drew attention to the Awareness Day, and encouraged audiences to engage with the issue.
At the same time, the campaign points to an accompanying study by Chemnitz University of Technology, which aims to generate the first robust data on the use of drink spiking substances in German-speaking countries. In this way, the campaign combines emotional experience with fact-based awareness-building.
The result is a digital experience that makes a complex and difficult-to-grasp issue accessible and understandable, while demonstrating how passive consumption can be transformed into active participation.
